Cooperative International Exhibits

The Association offers exhibiting opportunities, often in partnership with international book trade fairs.

FILUNI
In 2019, AUPresses offered discounted exhibit space for members at the 3rd annual Feria International del Libro Universitario (FILUNI) in Mexico City, August 27-September 1. This cooperative program had launched in 2017 with the inaugural FILUNI, the first international university press book fair hosted in Latin America. FILUNI 2019 drew more than 180 university press publishers from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, USA, Spain, Peru, and Mexico.

Eleven member presses—University of Arizona Press, Cambridge University Press, Catholic University of America Press, Getty Publications, University of Illinois Press, IMF Publications (International Monetary Fund), The National Academies Press, Notre Dame University Press, Ohio State University Press, University of Pittsburgh Press, and Princeton University Press—participated in this AUPresses cooperative stand.

Organized by the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), through its press, FILUNI planned and set up the space, while AUPresses staff coordinated the outreach, display set up, and billing for the collective. AUPresses Communications Program Manager Kate Kolendo managed the booth throughout the fair.

The New York Rights Fair
AUPresses returned to the New York Rights Fair (NYRF) in 2019 with a cooperative exhibit program. The Association joined with Reed Exhibitions/New York Rights Fair to offer member presses exhibit packages at special rates for the second annual NYRF, which was held at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC on May 29-31, concurrent with Book Expo America (BEA).

Reed/NYRF handled the collection and shipping of books, among a host of other logistics, and AUPresses staff member Kate Kolendo was present at the fair for organizational assistance. NYRF badge holders had full access to the BEA exhibition floor.

The Association had four member presses represented in the AUPresses NYRF collective exhibit: Johns Hopkins University PressPenn State University PressUniversity of Georgia Press, and the National Academies Press. The books on display were donated to the Housing Works Bookshop at the conclusion of the fair.
